Soulard Art Market & Contemporary Art Gallery

The Soulard Art Market Contemporary Art Gallery is a unique gallery and studio complex located in the historic Soulard neighborhood of Saint Louis, Missouri. Maintained by a core of thirteen professional artists, The Soulard Art Market Contemporary Art Gallery is a venture which strives towards making a difference in the community.

In partnership with the gallery is Youth Education and Health in Soulard. YEHS is a nonprofit community‐based organization that was founded in 1972 to develop needed services in order to save the historic Soulard neighborhood from being torn down and to prevent the displacement of low and moderate income residents of the area. YEHS also hosts summer employment/training,

tutoring, and recreation for disadvantaged St. Louis youths.

Soulard Art Market & Contemporary Art Gallery otherwise known to many as The SAM Gallery is located in the heart of Soulard at 12th and Russell, the SOULARD ART MARKET (S.A.M.) features thirteen of St Louis' most talented artists. Our Art exhibitions, which are free and open to the public, unless otherwise noted, showcases thirteen professional regional artists. Artwork is offered for sale. Media exhibited includes: drawing, painting, digital and traditional photography, mixed media, sculpture and hand blown glass.

Our current exhibit includes photography by Thomas Shepherd, a veteran St. Louis photographer who presents his unique photographic studies on everything from canvas to silver gelatin prints. Kathy Gomric's passionate award winning drawings have been published and exhibited across many states. Her work is in many private collections around the world. Danielle Correll is an

artisan specializing in many formats including graphic art, photography, painting and murals. Her experimental nature leads her down many paths as she refuses to limit herself to one medium. Her works can be found on the West coastal areas of the United States as well as Europe and Asia. She also specializes in Interior Design as her career. André Tourrette brings his visions together with his beautiful metal sculptures and jewelry. André utilizes recycled metal as his medium and creates incredible pieces of work that include metal sculpted bowls, garden sculptures and abstract wall hung pieces. Deanna Chafin paints in an abstract medium as

she finds each stroke of paint has a meaning. Her process is ever changing and is often through experimentation that her most intense works are created. Jane Martin is a St. Louis born artist who paints primarily with acrylics on canvas. Her most recent works include mystical masks inspired by African designs as well as beautiful paintings of chairs. Her technique is simply colorful, detailed and incredible. Born on Long Island, New York Lisa Hemrick’s upbringing exposed her to many forms of artistic expression. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Goldsmithing from Arcadia University in Glenside, Pennsylvania. In 1989 she began working as a jeweler, winning numerous awards for her work in jewelry design. In 1998 she began experimenting with beaded jewelry, eventually adding an entire line to her catalog of designs. Recently she has begun making artistic pictures that are woven entirely out of beads. While jewelry making is her first passion, Lisa also enjoys working with colored pencil, watercolors, acrylics, as well as sculptural mediums.Garrett Roberts is a self‐taught photographer who enjoys experimenting with toy cameras, antique lenses and alternative processes to achieve interesting and unusual effects. His award winning photographs have been exhibited in numerous art fairs and galleries in St. Louis and New York City. Genevieve Esson, a St. Louis, Missouri native with a B.A. in painting from Webster University, Esson has won awards for music album cover art and was featured on the program cover for the Riverport Amphitheatre. Locally, her paintings have been exhibited within several venues including the Soulard Art Market, St. Louis Artists Guild: the Randall and Componere galleries; St. Peter’s Cultural Art Center and the Cardeia’s Coffee House and Peony Boutique, Hartford Coffee House, among other sites. In New York, she has exhibited at the Great Salt Marsh in Manhattan. She recently had an art booth at Earth Day 2007, The 21stWholistic Expo. She also has artwork at A Floral Gallery in Clayton, MO. Her style is surreal and dream‐like and is of a world of vivid color impressions, spiritual meanings and aspirations. A native of St. Louis, Missouri, Dan Jaboor began drawing shortly after birth. He has won awards in numerous local and national competitions for works in a variety of mediums. His artistic vision has been described as “innovative, yet with a surprising flair for the unexpected”. He is available for commissioned work as well as having pieces available locally. Additionally, Dan is the author of the blog "Artistic Mission" which is rated as one of the top 40 art related blogs in the world by Alltop.com. Shari Gourde's glass designs represent the simplicity of beauty that glass can embrace. Her designs are colorful and friendly and can appear anywhere in ones home or office. Cindy Royal's current works are a collection of ground papier‐mâché, fibers and vestiges of an entertainment career (musical instruments, records are taken into a new realm). Her journey continues to celebrate peculiar planes and find solace in creating alternatively recycled art. Carla Duncan is an artisan of her Jewelry craft. Her intricate designs create one of kind masterpieces that are cherished, adored, and craved upon. She combines her designs delicately one jump ring at a time. Jane Linders is an award‐winning photographer whose prints are in numerous national and international collections. Many of her photos are published in Michael Kilfoy's coffee table photo book, "St. Louis Seen and Unseen" She is a tireless image‐maker devoted to her craft. Shawn Lipe has been a St. Louis based glass artists for over twenty years. His fluid sculptures have been featured in Miami Design Magazine, St. Louis Alive and, Missouri Life Magazine. Additionally, Shawn teaches glass blowing at 3rd Degree Glass.
